A Certified Mold Remediation Supervisor (CMRS) possesses verified knowledge of the microbial remediation field. The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACOC) certifies only 16% of mold remediators in the U.S. as CMRS because of the certification’s rigid requirements. These include…

  • Intimate knowledge of industry standards
  • Understanding of the scientific principles governing mold and the indoor environment
  • A firm grasp on the most common practices and protocols used by remediators
  • Familiarity with the proper equipment to use in mold remediation
  • Understanding of all legal issues affecting their work

Recognize the term “IICRC” from elsewhere on our website? It stands for Institute Of Inspection, Cleaning & Restoration Certification.

These are the same people that came up with the national mold remediation standard (ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation). They literally wrote the book on proper mold remediation—and we have every single mold certification they offer.

IICRC Mold Removal Specialist (MRS)

The Mold Removal Specialist (MRS) certification recognizes professionals who have the knowledge and skills necessary to…

  • Perform mold remediation for structures and contents
  • Design and maintain containments
  • Control pressure differentials
  • Safely work in mold contaminated environments
  • Understand common remediation work practices
  • Review and improve protocols
  • Understand and follow industry standards and legal requirements
  • Recognize conditions conducive for causing mold growth

IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician

The Applied Microbial Remediation Technician course covers mold and sewage remediation techniques to remediators engaged in property management, property restoration, IEQ investigations, or other related professions. Course graduates are equipped to perform remediation services while protecting the health and safety of workers and occupants.

IICRC Certified Water Damage Restoration Technician

As an IICRC-certified mold remediator, we have the training and knowledge to identify sources of moisture (visible and non-visible), contain damage, remove contamination, and dry necessary materials to make sure the mold does not return.

Washington DC has strict requirements for becoming a licensed mold remediator. This includes, but is not limited to, the following…

  • At least a million dollars in general liability insurance
  • Passing a qualified mold examination
  • Adhere to specific performance standards outlined by the DC Department Of Energy & Environment
  • Preparing a work plan to the client for all indoor mold remediation projects
  • And much, much more

Since April 2010, EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair & Painting Rule (RRP Rule) requires EPA certification for companies to perform renovations, repairs, and painting that disturbs lead-based paint in homes built before 1978. By choosing an EPA-certified mold remediator, you ensure a project that meets lead-safe work practices.

The Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) provides the gold standard in IAQ educational courses in the industry. IAQA members who undergo this education and have the experience and knowledge to earn independent certification by the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) are among the world’s most qualified indoor air quality experts.

Only about 75 people in the world carry this certification—and our owner, David Myrick, is one of them! To become a Restoration Industry Association (RIA) Certified Mold Professional (CMP), a mold remediator must do or have the following…

  • 5 years of verifiable work experience or 3 years of verifiable supervisory experience
  • Completion of RIA’s Mold Remediation Technician and Mold Remediation Supervisor courses
  • Completion of RIA’s Certified Mold Professional Certification School
  • Completion of a CMP Capstone Project on a topic that advances the mold industry.
  • Valor owner David Myrick’s capstone was a case study on how InstaScope instant mold testing narrowed down the source of high mold levels in a house to a couch…and how it would’ve been impossible if traditional mold testing was used.
