The Best Mold Remediation Techs… Period

Friendly. Experienced. Passionate.

At Valor Mold Removal, our chemical-free remediation process yields an unprecedented 96% success rate. That’s one of the highest of any mold remediator in Northern Va, Southern MD, Washington DC… and the entire country!

But a process is only as good as the people performing it. And we’re proud to say we have the BEST.

Our mold technicians are a cut above the industry standard. They’re supremely talented. They’re PhD-level educated in mold removal. And, most importantly, they are genuinely passionate about helping you

Why You’ll Love Our Mold Techs

Our strict “Diamond-In-The-Rough” hiring process ensures we bring on only the best and brightest.

To retain this top talent, we treat our technicians RIGHT.

We pay much higher than industry average and put our techs in positions that allow them to thrive.

View the tabs below to discover how this translates into a top-quality project for you…

#1: Experienced

Valor technicians are more educated, experienced, and knowledgeable than your average mold tech. And when you compare our training requirements to the industry standard, it’s easy to see why…

Most companies either get their mold certification from a one-hour online “certification factory,” have just the owner and/or estimator attend a formal class, or take part in no training at all. (Remember, training is not a requirement.)

So if you hire the other companies, the techs who show up to do the actual work have no formal training and little experience. Think they’re going to protect your health and safety?

What We Do

All of our new techs get basic training on how to utilize their PPE gear, set up a containment barrier, and create negative air pressure in contained areas. After that, we give the tech on-the-job training to see if they have enough potential for us to invest in formal, in-person classroom training for them.

Bottom line: We allow only highly talented individuals to become technicians. And when we find them, we ensure they get the training they need to reach their true potential.

New mold techs are often promoted to Lead Technician… after just 2 or 3 jobs! That’s like promoting a medical student to Head Of Surgery after two weeks of interning. (And would you want that guy operating you?)

What We Do

To even be considered for a Lead Technician position, our techs must have 6 months of experience minimum at our company. At that time, we review the tech’s performance, aptitude, and progress to gauge if they have what it takes to “level up.”

If they do, we promote them to Lead Tech. If they don’t, they remain in their current position and we review their progress after an additional 6 months.

The average technician at the average company isn’t required to undergo continual training. Techs can pursue further education… but they have to do it outside company hours and on their own dime.

What We Do

We hold a monthly roundtable education and discussion that all technicians must attend. Each session, owner David Myrick reviews a section of the national mold remediation standard (ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Remediation) with our techs.

We use the Socratic method during these roundtables. Techs openly discuss, debate, and dialog on how to take what they’ve learned and best utilize it on the job.

#2: Passionate

For our techs, mold remediation isn’t “just a job.” It’s a labor of love.

Since we’re talking about mold, that might sound strange, but it’s 100% true. Here are a few ways our techs’ passion for the craft shines through…

  • Diligent: Our Lead Techs take it VERY personally if they fail a mold test. So if your job needs more time than anticipated, your Lead Tech will schedule an additional day to complete the work the right way. Does it make things less profitable? Since we work on a fixed price, absolutely. Do we care? No. Our goal is to do great work—period.
  • Proactive: Our techs regularly come to the owner, David, with excellent ideas on how to improve our processes. And David is the type to actively listen to, encourage, reward this kind of initiative.
  • Invested: During our monthly roundtable training, Valor techs can have hours-long debates with each other about best practices regarding the most “minor” details. (Example: Which direction is best to clean a containment room—from the air scrubber to the door or vice-versa? That one got heated!)

#3 Polite!

Our mold techs are just plain friendly, courteous, and respectful.

They show up on time. They smile. They happily answer your questions. And they bend over backward to make your experience as pleasant as possible.

What’s more—they listen. When you talk to most contractors (not just mold remediators), it’s in one ear and out the other. When you talk to us about your concerns, we actually hear what you say. Whether you want to let us know where to park or are wondering what that strange noise is while we’re working, don’t hesitate to approach us. We want to help!

Think of the Lead Tech of your project like you would your family doctor. The Lead Tech is there to listen to you and provide solutions based on your conversations. You can come to them anytime with questions or concerns, and the Lead Tech’s job is to listen, learn, and assist.
